Blank HD

Hi

If I buy a Macbook with minimal spec, and upgrade RAM and HD myself, assuming I buy the right HD, can I just slap the blank one into Macbook and put the OS CD/DVD into drive and install? Would it work so simply?

First boot from the disk in the computer already to make sure everything works.

I would run it that way for about 10 days then switch it.

Disk Utility from the OS X Install CD. Its in the Menu under "Tools".
