Hi All,

Just burnt a CD of stuff for a friend, brochures and manuals. Went to burn a DVD of pics from Truckworld, and no matter what disc I grabbed, it will not burn them. Are Memorex blank DVD-R's junk? Looks like I got an entire spindle of Duds.

What brand do you folks use? DVD-R or DVD-RW? My friend is using PC, so no matter what brands, they will work for him, right?

I've always used Memorex and never had a problem with them. Maybe there is something wrong with your DVD burner? I couldn't see getting a whole batch of bad DVDs.

Although not on a mac I had a similar issue on my DVD recorder. I tried a few brands but no joy. I then read on a different forum to try giving it a clean. Used one of those CD's with the little heads on and it worked fine.

Just an update, spoke to some people at the local apple store, bought a cheap external cd rw/dvd rw, works great.

Not going to bother getting it fixed.

It will play both cd/dvd, burn cd's, but not dvd's.

Some.....

burners are more sensitive than other to brands. And some brands are in el cheapo side and others are quality brands. I usually uses TDK, Maxell, Sony and even HP, without problem. I go outside this short list? No easily or willingly...:D
