blank white screen for 45 secs before start up

hi,i,m new to the mac scene had my mac 2months, when starting my mac up it usually loads up in seconds, earlier today i decided to restart my mac as it had been on a few days, now when it starts up the screen is white for about 45 secs before it loads as normal, the first time it did this today the screen was white then a little picture of the world came in the middle of the screen before it started to load as normal, have i changed a setting on it by accident, i havent backed my comp up with time machine or i would restore it to a earlier time, any help is appreiciated,

You probably changed your Startup Disk preferences to look for netboot/network startup; it can't find it, but searches anyway until it defaults to your internal hard drive. Hold down option while powering on the system, select the Macintosh HD, does it boot quicker? If so just go into Startup Disk in System Preferences, highlight the Macintosh HD and restart.
