So after finally getting everything working, well for the most part I can now game on my external screen however the main imac screen is still on which is quite distracting.

Is there anyway to blank the main screen when a full screen app is running on the external monitor?

21.5" iMac Late 2015

Thanks for any help

I have read that before but also it was a bit hit and miss and my set up means I would still see it out the corner of my eye, looking for something to blank the main display really. Back in the PC days would just turn off the monitor but unfortunately if I do that on the mac it will turn the mac off :)

It's terribly easy.
1. Set the brightness to lowest level.
2. Use a piece of cloth to cover it.
3. Turn it a way from your eyesight.

How about closing / hiding all other apps and setting a single colored black wallpaper to the iMac. It's not fully blank/off, but nearly as good.
I do this sometimes with the built-in screen when gaming with my MacBook Pro + eGPU while using the 30 inch Cinema Display as main monitor.

Yes might try that.

Blizzard seem to have it sussed somehow. When playing Diablo 3, it uses the egpu but runs on the main monitor and blanks the external while playing.

Other games Steam etc only run on the external display or they won't use the egpu but leave the main monitor on. I thought there would be something quite straight forward to blank the main display but seems not so will have to adopt one or all of the other methods mentioned here
