I was trying to clean out the macbook retina fans but I didn't position the Compressed air can upright and instead, this cold liquid blew out and got into my mac.. Since than, whenever I turn on my macbook, I hear a humming noise.. did the water from the compressed air can damage the internals ?

It's not water, most likely. It's liquid propellant/refrigerant. It should have evaporated almost instananeously, without leaving a residue.

Thing to remember with compressed air cans is that they come out cold, and that cold can make things happen (think "shrinkage").

Life Lesson #1: Never spray a can of compressed liquid that is supposed to come out as a gas, upside down.
