I read that this is like champagne bubbles on the tongue. The intensity varies based on dark or light shades. The tongue sensations replace the information provided by the optic nerves. It takes up to 10 hours of training to recognize shapes, a retraining of the brain if you will.

there have been several things such as this. what they don't convey is it will cost a fortune. anything made just for blind people is very expensive. it's sad when people that need it can't even begin to afford it without government aid.

Price could come down with the number of military personnel coming back from Iraq/Afghanistan with vision issues. That is the new application I hear touted.
