blinking folder with question mark

Hey guess. So the ole blinking folder with question mark appeared with startup today. I inserted the startup disk and booted from that and then selected the appropriate HD and everything seems to be working well now.

is there anything else i should do to check my hd or anything? just to make sure everything is in order?
 
Open Disk Utility on the Install Disk and run disk utilities disk repair assuming its OS X. Also, if your using Classic make sure you do not let it rebuild your desktop if booting into OS 9, that will trash crucial OS X files. Otherwise, you really need to give more info. OS, specs etc
