From my recent calls list, I used to be able to block incoming calls from a specific number there. With 26 I no longer can. Am i missing something?

Click the i next to the number and then scroll to the bottom.

Yes, but that only works for contacts. If it's just a number, I no longer have that option.

I take that back. It works for Favorite Contacts (precisely those I wouldn't want to block) but not for other contacts on my recent calls list, and not for plain numbers.

I'm using the latest public beta and an iPhone SE. It worked fine with iOS 18, not with 26. Strangely, I could block the number with my iPad Pro (also latest PB).

Just click on the number, it brings up a card and at the bottom is the option to “block contact”

I know that's the way the card is supposed to look, but it doesn't on my phone since upgrading to 26. There's nothing after the items you see on the screenshot.

I have the same issue. No matter what number I choose (i.e. whether it's a contact or an unknown number), its card looks like the above.
I had to write down the number, then go to the Settings app and manually add it to the blocked list.
WTF? I know Apple couldn't care less about spam, seeing that even after 18 years it still obstinately refuses to give us proper anti-spam tools. But to cripple even the little that we already had is really unbelievable.

It's clearly a bug, as "block contact" is available under every number in my phone list, known or unknown. That said, Apple should offer better tools, like specifically blocking "unknown callers" or "blocked caller id". The below screenshot is my work phone, where I can't block all unknown as 4/5 of my legitimate calls are unknown. All my cards look like this:
