I would like to block the wifi ability of my Iphone4. I have no problem installing a filter on it but I am not sure which one would do that.

Why would you want to turn of Wifi?

Just go into settings and switch it of.

I know that I can shut off the wifi but I plan on giving this to my 13 year old daughter and I dont want her to have access to the internet. I can block the data through the carrier but not the WIFI.

Then just get her a regular phone. Any 13 year old probably has more tech savvy then their dad and shielding them from the internet is at best futile.

Why give her an iPhone then? Most the the features are useless without data or wifi. All you could use it for is phone calls, SMS, and music storage.

Does anyone know if there is another smartphone that can be used.

Dude, if you're that hell bent on blocking internet, just get a dumbphone. But in this day in age, they are becoming harder to find. And blocking internet from someone is becoming a useless endeavor.

Especially a 13-year-old. My six-year-old daughter has (monitored) access to the internet.

OP -> Change the wifi password. Then she cannot connect the iPhone to the wifi unless you give her the password. Or simply unplug the wireless router.

So are you saying NEVER let your kids out of the house with the phone? ^)

There is a Cydia tweak that allows for individual apps to be locked down/password protected. I think it's called, lockdown.

You could turn off WIFI and password protect the settings app.

All AirPort APs (and probably other brands) let you disable devices based on their MAC address. This won't work when your daughter's not at home but it could help when she is. With AirPort you can even set up time restrictions so that it's usable during the day but not at night.

Go Settings/General/Restrictions and forbid Safari and Installing Apps. That'll render the smartphone useless except for things like SMS and phone. You can also restrict apps like iTunes, Camera, iBookstore and FaceTime.

I mean Wifi yes or no, she won't be able to use Safari and can't install other browser apps either.
