We just released version 1.3 of Blogo, our desktop blog editor and Twitter client. This release adds support for Tumblr, as well as allowing WordPress users to create and edit pages using the application's intuitive rich-text editor.

The new version allows Tumblr users to post text, images, quotes, videos, links and conversations from a single, unified interface, and generates a preview template with the blog's theme for each post type so users can preview their posts exactly as they will appear when published. It's also the first weblog editor to take advantage of the new additions to the Tumblr API to allow users to save drafts, queue posts for publishing at a later date, and set a custom slug for the post URL.

In addition, Blogo's Twitter client has gained a bunch of new features:

  • Users can now retweet posts directly through the new retweet API via the contextual menu
  • A new tab displays retweets of the user's own updates, and a contextual menu item allows the user to retweet directly using the new API
  • A new "Services" contextual menu links Twitter profiles to Favstar, Twitpic and other services
  • Users can view local search trends in addition to the global trending topics
  • Scrolling to the bottom of the list will automatically load more updates
  • Posterous is now offered as an alternative to Twitpic for image uploads
  • Twitter search terms can be saved for later
  • User timelines have a new profile view which shows the biography, follower count and other information
  • Users can upload a new photo and change their own biography and link from within the app
  • goo.gl is now available as a URL shortening option

Other improvements include performance enhancements to the Google Translate feature and support for the "read more" tag in Blogger to separate the summary from the full post.
