Hello, I wonder if you can misure the blood oxigen during workout, that would be amazing because that way you know how is your fitness condition in real time.
That would be a game changer option.

Anyone has tested that way?

Maybe you can, but I don't think your blood oxygen changes too much during a work out, or does it?

It does! If your workout is very strong, your blood oxygen changes a lot, and let you know if you are pushing too much.
😊

Would be great if someone could try it out, in particular:
a) Does it work if your arm is a bit sweaty?
b) Does it work while the Workout app is going?
c) Can it work at the same time as the heart rate sensor (which would be active during the workout?)
d) Does a high heart rate impact the reading?

Regardless, I'm pretty sure you would need to pause your workout for a minute and be 'still' for it to get a proper reading.

As an elite road cyclist and a Garmin Fenix user (has PulseOx), I can tell you that it is useless. For cases such as elevation adaptation, or asthma/COVID medical issues, it has some benefits but not many others. Your V02 Max, power, and HR are much more relevant data points.

I will also highlight, though my AW5 has the most accurate optical HR around, it is still nowhere near as accurate as chest-strap/electrical monitors. Same can be said about the wrist based PulseOx, will not be as accurate as finger tip. Not to mention it is a metric limited in its utility.

My hot take - it is a marketing gimmick and we won't see it come into workout metrics.
