Hi everyone

Does the new Apple Watch have a feature where blood sugar levels can be monitored?

No. The newer iPhones (8 or above I think) can read a freestyle libre sensor directly, rather than requiring a separate reader however. (My iPhone SE is locked out from downloading the reader app.)

(The sensors also require a prescription in the US, and insurance coverage may not be available depending on the condition, such as type 1/2/pre, insulin or other meds, previous history of control or lack of control with traditional blood glucose strips.)

There is no non-invasive way to check blood sugar commercially available that I know of, although lots of medical companies have been working on research to create one for decades. That being said, if Apple can figure it out and put it in the watch before others get a similar setup, they will have many more millions of customers running to the store to buy a watch.

I am dealing with pre-diabetes, I hate poking my fingers every day, and many more people have to check much more frequently than I do. Blood sugar control is a maddening thing, I lost 30 pounds (190 to 160), changed my diet, exercise and started taking a drug called metformin to get it under control, and my A1C actually went up from 6.0 to 6.1.
