I have a Macbook Pro (2014) and the speakers are blown entirely somehow. Volume is low and clearly they're broken. I live VERY FAR from an Apple store and am told that if I bring it for service it will have to be shipped out and I cannot use it for over a week.

I'm told that I cannot get a price quote for fixing it until I take it into an actual shop. But, it's pretty far away and I'm not sure I even want to have it out of commission for over a week.

I'm considering just getting a new one at this time. It's lived almost 5 years and I don't want to invest too much money into a dying machine, so figure now might be the time.

Is there anywhere I can at least get a ballpark figure for the price of replacing the speakers on this thing? I figure it's not gonna be cheap, but Apple doesn't seem willing to provide me any info beyond "BRING IT IN AND WE WILL LOOK AT IT." For me, that's not helpful since taking a trip to the Apple store knocks a whole day out of my schedule.

If it's over $200, I think I might as well just get a new laptop. This one has a few other issues that I just sort of ignore, but it's hard to get by without speakers.

Thank you

Why not try to replace the speakers yourself? Go to www.ifixit.com and look up the procedure to see if you are able to do it. If you are, you can probably find replacement speakers on eBay or one of the many Apple parts sellers on the net.
