Blu-ray compability with Mac

Hello,
So my issue is that now that I have taken the optical drive out of my 2011 15" MacBook Pro, and replaced it with a SSD. I need an external optical drive. I was thinking about getting an external Bluray Optical drive and was wondering if the only issue with Mac and Blu-Ray are the fact that Apple doesn't use Blu-Ray, or is it not compatible at all(issue with drivers).

ie. will I be able to connect it and read Blu-rays in Mac OS X.
I also have bootcamp, it should for sure work under windows 7 right?

id look around on macsales...theyve got a few options on there, and those should all be very compatible with mac.

theyve got great customer service if you need to call too.

You can play Blu-Ray in Windows, however, you cannot play them natively on OS X
