Any suggestions on a blu ray drive that I guess has software to play blu rays? I guess you need software to do it. I saw one at bb a pioneer for like 80 bucks.

Thanks for the info. I see mce plays blu rays but doesn't burn them. Any suggestions

Thank you for posting this info. I came here to look for info on a blu ray drive for my macbook and I think I'm just going to skip it, at least for now. The movie studios have made dealing with the format such a hassle.

Yup it is hassle to deal with it on the Mac at least.
I rather use my PS3 to play 99.9% of the Bluray discs out there.

The mac is too much hassle to deal with blur ays,
even though I bought a bluray drive myself.

But its flaky.

I use http://www.macblurayplayer.com
works with most Blurays, but can't access BD menu.

Can only jump straight to the movie.
Also doesn't work with all BDs, but its encryption thingy
needs to be 'hacked/approved' by the software.

So you can only wait for the library to go.

Very flaky at times. Not sure why it's so difficult to watch a BD
on a Mac when Apple supported BD in the first place!

Mac Blu-ray Player can access the BD menu, though it is still in constant development and was supposed to be complete with version 3.0 (that has never come...)

Here is the article on how to enable it: http://www.macblurayplayer.com/play-bluray-menu-on-mac-with-mac-bluray-player.htm
