Any idea if a Blu-Ray reader/writer is or will be available soon for the current Mac Pro lineup? What about playing Blu-Ray movies... you need HDCP the whole way through from reader to display...

Cliff.

Hmmm... I see no mention of playing Blu-ray discs... just writing data... have to dig a little deeper I guess.

Im pretty sure it can be used for at least booting. On the product page, it lists it as "Bootable".

There is no software yet to play Blu-ray movies. So far all you can do with them is to write data on them. Useful if you have alot of data to save.

Correct. Not to mention the hdcp issues (I am assuming that with the Sony Blu-ray drives on the pc side that you have to have an hdcp graphics card and display?).

cheers.
