I currently have a Netgear Readynas Duo which works ok and gives me some issues. I am keen to rip my Blu Ray collection to MKV using Make MKV but having tested it and then played the file back from the ReadyNAS duo it doesnt work as desired. Its stutters when skipping through the movie and also slow at times.

I like the idea of Thunderbolt as I am able to get fast speeds and pretty much futureproof myself rather than buying a Firewire 800 drive, but then I thought perhaps I just need a better NAS with a decent processor that will give me the space, speed and backup I like.

I am directly connect to my Mac Mini via ethernet and using Plex for my playback.
