I recently got myself my first ever MacBook pro. I love it. I went ahead and spent the money for the top of the line one. I needed to burn a dvd today and suddenly my need for a burner was evident. I don't do a lot of burning but I need something for those moments. What are your experiences? Are there certain ones you would recommend? Is certain software needed? Thank you for all the help.

Was just about to post same question. I am only ripping though. Not sure if you want to rip or burn?

Same questions though. Which one and what needed to rip and play to/on a macbook pro retina?

If you are just burning I saw a Samsung one/LG/Pioneer. Plus and minuses on all. Leaning toward the LG, but haven't got far enough into reviews to see what I need to rip and play bluerays on my macbook.

I have the Samsung "506" that is mentioned in the post above.

Excellent drive for a good price.

How is the ripping speed for a 5gb blue ray. What software used to do it? #
