I recently purchased an Apple TV (2nd generation) and I have ripped several of my Blu Ray disks to my hard drive. I then encode the Blu Ray files at 1280x720 (most actually end up at 1280x528 because of the original aspect ratio). My question is this: will these 1280x720 HD files be able to play on an iPad if I were to purchase one down the road? Apple's webpage says the display on the iPad is 1024x768. They definately don't work on my iPhone 3GS.
Also, if they are able to play on the iPad, is playback choppy? The file sizes are usually 3-5 GB depending on the length and aspect ratio of the movie.
Thanks in advance for any insight or clarification.
