Hi,

I'm trying to get my hands on an old apple watch band that came out with the original (S0) apple watch. It's just called blue. I have found two bands with the name blue but different serial numbers. MLDA2ZM/A and MJ4J2ZM/A. Anyone who has the packaging from the original blue band, could you tell me which one it is?

This is the one I want.

Thank you so much

I Researched both serial numbers for those bands. They both come back to the exact same band color in blue. My guess is both serial numbers represent a different size in the band or Apple might have made a small alteration to the band when it did exist, but it’s completely the same.

That's what I figured, since apple generally changes the name even if it's a different shade. But Bestbuy has both colors in their listing and one seems to be a lighter blue. I don't get why apple stop making this color, their new colors are just dull and boring!

The sport band is the one band that consistently change out at least twice a year with new colors to keep it refreshed. So if there is a band that you really like and you’re not sure about, I would certainly consider it, because it’s likely won’t return after being in their lineup after while.

Hi there. You are correct, actually. Apple DID alter its original Blue band color that launched in Spring 2015 to a different hue that Fall. The model numbers you mentioned are indeed different hues. I collect the 42mm bands...the starting numbers of them match up to the ones you mentioned. The blue you are looking for begins with model number MJ4.

You could also buy both of them separately...I have both of them. See attached and good luck in your search for the original/first generation Blue band.

They are not the same; both of those model numbers represent the 38mm size, but they are two different hues.

The model numbers for my 42mm Blues are MJ4R2ZM/A and MLDL2ZM/A as well...

Thanks so much for your detailed reply. I guess I just purchased the first gen blue in new condition. There's another seller on ebay that says he is selling genuine 2nd gen blue for $20. I messaged him and he said it's apple manufactured. Is it worth getting both blue or the different shade between them isn't that noticeable. I was thinking of getting the green too instead of the newer blue.

Thanks again

IT IS that noticeable. I love both of the blues. Then again, I also collect all the Sport bands. The 2nd gen blue has a touch of teal or darker aqua in it while the 1st gen is a nice true blue. That bright green that Apple also first launched the watch with is nice but is very neon-y and matches only a few things lol.

You have a lot of bands... Thanks for the comparison picture. You are right, there is a noticeable difference and I think I like both too. I'm assuming you have royal blue as well? If so, could you please take a picture of royal beside the 1st gen blue?

Again thanks for your help. The green won't go with much but It just catches my eye so much. Apple has just been pumping out dull colors. The yellow was also nice. The scuba blue woven as well.

Here are the 3 blues (2nd gen, 1st gen, Royal) and all the blues (with Denim just to the left of Royal, when I got it this past week).

Left to right: Turquoise, Mist Blue, Lilac, Blue 2, Blue 1, Azure, Denim Blue, Royal Blue, Ocean Blue, Blue Cobalt, and Midnight Blue.

You have every shade of blue?? I really like those 3. You have a nice collection going there!

Thanks for the pictures, I'll pick up royal too then. It's a nice darker shade of blue

Lol, thanks. Check it out...every Sport band and how they're stored.

Lol, thanks DoubleFly :)

OH dear lord! it looks like that band poster someone made. That's some nice organization. I love that you have the picture of the band instead of just its name.

ASide from the collection, do you actually wear all these bands or do you just collect them? How many Apple Watches do you actually own? Not trying to be dismissive and I can appreciate everyone has different collections for their own personal reasons, just seems like a lot of money to spend for something that will be obsolete when Apple does eventually change the Bandport. (Assumingly they will at some point.)
