Hi, I been running Blue Iris for years with 3-5 camera's for security, works great, thought I'd try it on the M1 mini but they don't make it.

2 questions, what software do I need for the mac? And you think a mac mini M2 could run/record 5 cameras?

I don't know how to compare with PC, like I'm using this cpu which has an overall score of 17k

Since this would be about all it does, it wouldn't have to multitask...

So thinking about picking up an M2 to try it but I could try it on the M1 mini first to see.

Thanks guys

many, many, many years ago, when I first transitioned from PC to Mac, I switched from Blue Iris to Security Spy, which seemed pretty equivalent. Soon thereafter we moved and I never put cameras in the new house, so I can’t tell you what’s involved these days with what you need on your Mac, etc, but I would check out SS as a solution.

Sorry, I need remedial help...

So I downloaded securityspy.dmg took several tries but I think it downloaded, said 104mb

So I run it and it says to install drag to installations folder but when I run it from there it says. the same thing.

I must not have a working copy.

Your download sounds correct...
Double-click to open the SecuritySpy.dmg
That will open that download, and show that message that says to drag the icon to the Applications folder.
Do that with what you see in that same window: Drag the SecuritySpy icon to the Applications folder icon.
And, now look in the Applications folder. You should see that app named "SecuritySpy"
(hint: that will NOT be named SecuritySpy 5.5.8, or SecuritySpy.dmg. If you see either of those in your Applications folder, you dragged the wrong item. The app will be named SecuritySpy, and will be about 124MB in size. It is INSIDE the "SecuritySpy 5.5.8" folder.)
Got it, now?

ok, I was dragging the file to applications when I needed to drag the icon in the message that told me to drop it into applications.

Got it up and running and connected my camera's, looking good. Thanks
