Blue-Ray and iTunes?

What were Apple thinking not announcing support for a HD format at this point? I really am confused. If studios will include iTunes compatible versions of their films on Blue-Ray discs, Apple are effectively giving Windows users a better iTunes experience for movies.

I am really confused about this news...

They never said anything about including them on Blu-Rays. They are including them on regular DVDs.
