Just checked the X demo units while picking mine up at my local Apple Store and as I was afraid of, they all have different “blue tint shift” intensity...some get more bluer than others and the worse ones are just unacceptable to me.

Better carefully check your phones folks. I’m crossing my fingers on mine.

Yeah, it’s an OLED screen. That’s par for the course.

I’ve heard it’s much less intense than the Samsung and Pixel phones, so that’s encouraging.
I knew that going in but it’s the ones with intense blues I’m concerned about. Oh well, there’s always the 14 days.

I don’t get the concern. How often do people look at their phone off angle? I see how this might be of more concern with a larger device (e.g., an iPad), but it seems like a non-issue for the iPhone.

From what I understand it's a downside of the technology.

I won't get my X til after lunch but I'm withholding judgement til then.

Every year. Too bad everyone’s eye sight is not the same, LOL
I guess many users are not use to OLED displays.

I just received mine and the color shift is very noticeable even when the phone is slightly tilted in my hand. I wonder if mine is defective, but I don't have any other iPhone X to compare it to.

You can always exchange it.

And yes some exhibit it on extreme angles but some when only slightly tilting. I guess yours is one of the latter.

Mine was like that. All the phones I looked at at the Apple Store did it. Some worse then others. I returned my X and will wait until the screen issues get worked out.

I don't get why everyone is just settling for "its just the way OLED screens are". Ive had plenty of OLED phones, and none looked crappy like the X I had.

Yeah. I pretty much only look at my X straight on. :)

Ya, me too. But imagine just moving it around in your hand while doing normal things like texting, and having it change from blue to really damn blue. It sucks. I wont settle for that with a $1200 phone.

I must be lucky, then. Even at the most extreme viewing angles, I get very minimal blue shift.

Mine has minimal shift from sides and from the top/bottom. Besides, you have to really go out of your way to angle it in order to see the shift.

Of course it’s real, it’s unavoidable on any phone OLED. The good news is, if you tweak your colour settings it minimises it. And of course it’s only visible at angles hardly anyone would use.

IPS LCD has reduced contrast and saturation when viewed off angle as well.
E-Ink is probably the only display that doesn't change with angle. It also isn't a self-illuminating display.
