Blue Vertical Lines! Is she dead?!💀

So a couple days ago I clicked my mouse to wake my iMac 27” from mid 2012, and these blue lines on a black screen appeared😫. Thankfully I’ve managed to tdm it to my mbp and recovered any files which I hadn’t backed up. Has anyone else had this and any clues if it’s worth sending off for diagnosis?! I guess almost 8 years ain’t bad for a computer though!! I’m currently looking at the eye watering prices of a new iMac.. lord have mercy..

Is it the iMac released mid 2011 (the thick one, not the thinner one)?

It’s the thinner one mid 2012 I believe. I think I will order a new one but with rumours flying around that a redesign might be shipping soon I might hold off for a bit... cheers bud

Yeah the 2012 can't be self repaired. And true, according to rumors new iMac should arrive in a matter of weeks, maybe even days, waiting for that one myself too.

It’s the thinner one mid 2012 I believe.

The Mid 2011 was the thicker one, the Late 2012 (Sometimes referred to as Early 2013) is the first generation of the thin models.

hi. looks like i have the very same situation on my imac. i can not hear it booting it does not do ANYTHIN but show the stripe and after a bit starts showing different stripes just like the ones at your photo. i wonder if you got a technical diagnostic from the time you posted or maybe got it fixed?.

Don't bother with the fix. The cost is way higher than buying another working iMac 2012.
All symptoms show signals of a defective LCD panel.
If you want to be sure about that, you would need another working iMac 2012 to swap LCD panel and check, or one compatible LCD driverboard.
