Bluetooth A2DP and sat nav apps

I was thinking of purchasing a new bluetooth headset to take advantage of the iphone's A2DP capabilities, however I wanted to know if this will enable audio from sat nav apps like Tomtom, or is this limited to music streaming?

SatNav audio streams over A2DP to car stereos, I don't think it works to headsets. If it does however, there is a lag between when audio starts and when bluetooth picks up the stream so you may not hear the whole message.
