Bluetooth and Remote Earbuds

Hi, I'm new here so hope I'm posting in the right place.
Please can anyone tell me if it is possible with an iPhone 4 to use a bluetooth speaker and the standard earbuds together?

I want to be able to hear the speaker so I don't need the earbuds but want to keep the remote control functions and microphone on the earbuds. The bluetooth cuts out as soon as the earbud jack is plugged in. Is there any way around this?
