Bluetooth Battery Life Dying

I've got Apple's wireless keyboard & mouse set. Approx 6 months old.
I've charged them perhaps twice in this time.

Upgraded to Mojave a fortnight or so ago, and I've had to charge them twice and they are about to die again. I only charged the mouse on the weekend!

Something must be wrong - they musn't be shutting off and are running 24/7? Or are talking way more than they need to which is killing the battery?

I've googled and couldn't see anyone else reporting this issue. Given it's just Bluetooth, not really any settings, at a loss at what to do. Can't be good for the life of my batteries to be constantly drained.

The whole power management of Mojave seems to be broken, but there is a feature that allows BT devices to take the MBPro. You can disable that. I’m not sure if this feature was in Sierra or HS, but IIRC it’s in the BT section of Sys Prefs. Maybe disable it and see if it makes a difference?

No dice. It's gone from 25% yesterday to 2% today.

For future reference this seems to be solved, so a firmware bug I guess.
