Bluetooth connection to series 4

On my series 2 whenever I wasn’t near enough to my phone for Bluetooth the watch would use WiFi instead. On the series 4 it seems to use WiFi whether I am near the phone or not. I am sitting right next to it now and it’s using the WiFi. Is this normal now on os5?

Edit. Nevemind. I think because the WiFi is lit up blue i thought it was using it. Maybe I didn’t pull down far enough to see the phone icon.
