Bluetooth disconnects automatically wont reconnect

My 2012 macbook pro 13 inch stopped working very well with my UE megaboom bluetooth speaker. Was working fine when i first bought the speaker. like a dream. a few reformats and updates later on the Mac, and now it wont stay connected. Ive tried resetting the SmC, upgrading and restarting. Sometime this work for a day or two, but thats it. it always goes back to being hit or miss. The speaker works flawless with every other phone and computer I have. Idk what to do. maybe it time to trash this computer...

Well, you could take it in to Apple to perform diagnostics on the Bluetooth chip. Does it also drop connection with other Bluetooth devices?

From the looks of it, it sounds like an update may have caused some weird bug in the connection between that Mac and that brand of speaker. I wouldn't trash the computer though. Maybe you could donate it or give to a friend or relative?
