Bluetooth earpieces -- 3.0, 4.0, does it matter?

My last bluetooth earpiece was a Motorola from years ago. I remember being horribly disappointed with it (it ended up in the trash).

Now that I have a iPhone 4S, I'm hopeful I can now find something that's actually usable.

I wonder which ones out there people are having the best luck with, with the iPhone 4S. Bose? I haven't seen any that are rated as Bluetooth 4.0 yet, and I'm not sure it really matters for this application -- someone please enlighten me on that.
