Bluetooth file transfers fail

I have 2 macs with bluetooth enabled and Bluetooth Sharing enabled in System prefs. The macs recognize each other over bluetooth but when I try to send a file I get this error:

Failed to establish connection to device

An error occurred while connecting to the device.

Any help would be appreciated
