I've not really noticed any battery drainage but I went to go try and use bluetooth today, I found it was already on yet there was no icon in the status bar. If I recall from previous times, though, I think new phones do come with it enabled, but why wasn't it showing?
 
yeah not sure why it does that. it does show up when i actually go into it

it only shows up after you add a bluetooth device and connected to it once. It seems like there is logic inside the bluetooth module that checks if there are any devices added to remain on otherwise turn off.
 
I noticed the same thing, when the phone was first activated, and then i looked and saw that there was no icon, but if i turned it off then back on it showed up just fine.
