Hello all. Have a 2006 Mac Pro 1.1 flashed to 2.1, running OS X El Capitan 10.11.16.

My trusty rig never had Bluetooth capabilities, but I wanted to add it. From all the research I've done, I have three options:
1- A1115 922-7289 card for BT 2. Very cheap but old BT version.
2- Broadcom BCM94360CD mini PCI-E card for BT 4. Modern BT but card extremely expensive.
3- USB Micro Adapter like IOGEAR GBU521 for BT 4. Cheap and modern BT.

I went with option 3 and got that specific adapter. Popped it in, machine saw Bluetooth, and I thought "great!". Unfortunately, it seems like there's something going on with the Bluetooth because it will not maintain a stable connection with anything I try to pair it to. It will randomly disconnect and connect. I've tried all my USB 2 ports and even the 2 USB 3 ports I added via a PCI-E card. Same result.

I tried doing everything from this site (https://www.atpeaz.com/using-unsupported-bluetooth-4-0-usb-dongle-with-os-x/) including trying to run the Continuity Activation Tool. However that tool I guess doesn't support MP 1.1s and doesn't see the USB dongle when it's at the prompt to insert it.

So I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this, and what suggestions and feedback you can provide, because this is really frustrating me.
