I always use a bt mouse and keyboard with my mbp. today bluetooth stopped working and when i clicked on the bt symbol in the scren it said "blutooth not available". then in system prefs there is no bluetooth icon! after a restart bt is nowhere to be found!!! what happened? this sucks:(

Bluetooth solution

I tried reboots, also PRAM, but this works:

MacBook (13 inch, Late 2008), MacBook Pro (15-inch, Early 2008), and MacBook Pro (17-inch, Early 2008)

If the computer is on, turn it off.

Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the computer's battery.

Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds and then release the button.

Reconnect the battery and AC Adapter.

Press the power button to restart the computer

Uhoh!

Let us know whether resetting the SMC (with the link that Praxeas posted) fixes it.

If not, you probably need a hardware repair. Is this a Core Duo MacBook Pro, or is it a Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro?
