I'm looking for a decent affordable BT keyboard for the iPP, preferably one with replaceable batteries. I've looked at reviews of lots of the more inexpensive ones, but many seem to suffer from issues with the KB's automatic power saving shutting off the BT connection. Since I sometimes have to work longish stretches without keying stuff in, that would be a bummer.

And I need something that isn't the Smart Keyboard, since it has to do double-duty with other machines.

In my experience, the only bluetooth keyboard that doesn't suffer from the power saving shutdown is the Apple Magic Keyboard, although it seems to also have the longest battery life, so hard to explain why. But it just starts typing the moment you start pressing the keys, even after a period of inactivity. All the other bluetooth keyboards I have used require you to press a key (which doesn't register) to wake up the keyboard and then wait a couple of seconds before you can begin typing. It's not a huge deal, but becomes somewhat annoying over time.

The magic keyboard doesn't use replaceable batteries, but it charges using the same lighting connector as your iPad, and the battery life seems to last many months. I've had mine since March, and I'm on my third charge right now, and I use mine several hours per day and never turn the on/off switch to off. I leave it on 24/7.

I second vote the Apple BT Magic keyboard. That's what I use and it's awesome. Feels awesome to type on, and one charge lasts easily over a month! I think the entire thing inside is basically battery LOL. It works with all BT devices too.... not just Apple's.

If you get the Zagg Slimbook, you can use it on your iPad as well as 2 other devices (iMac, Mac Mini, iPhone, etc). That way you have one keyboard for 3 devices instead of multiple keyboard devices. Just a thought.
