Bluetooth keyboard works with iPad but won’t connect to Mac

Any idea why my Bluetooth keyboard that works fine with my iPad won’t connect to my Mac Mini?

I set the iPad to forget the keyboard, then attempt to pair it to the Mac. It shows up in the list of devices, but always says connection failed when I click to connect.

Any suggestions?

Other Bluetooth peripherals work fine with the Mac.
I don’t have any other info on the keyboard as it was given to me second hand.

My guess would be that the keyboard only supports bluetooth 4.0, which was not available in the 2011 Macs (from your sig).

EDIT: the 2011 MBP had bluetooth 2.1, but I think the 2011 mini should supported 4.0. Check the specs for your keyboard. Another thing to look at is the OS you have on your Macs.

Thanks for the response.

It’s an older keyboard, so I kind of doubt it’s 4.0. As mentioned, I don’t have any other info on it, but I’d say it’s at least 4 years old.

And my MBP took a **** on me a couple weeks ago, which is a whole ‘nother story.
Need to update my sig.

I’ll check what version the OS is, not home at the moment. The one from last year I think?
