If i decide to buy a bluetooth mouse for my Macbook, will i need to plug in the adapter that comes with the mouse or can i pair the mouse directly with the onboard bluetooth of the Macbook?

Ordinarily, the dongles which come with mice (and keyboards too, fwiw) are RF -- and not Bluetooth -- adapters. Bluetooth devices are sold with the assumption your computer is already Bluetooth capable.

werd, all the bluetooth mices I've used did not come with a dongle.

MS 8000 bluetooth mouse comes with a dongle but also works fine with onboard bluetooth on Macs.
