Could someone advise me please?! I bought an iMac a few months ago, second hand, and it's been fine until a couple of weeks ago when it wouldn't wake up after going to sleep for two hours. I wake it up by pressing a key on the (Apple) wireless keyboard but nothing happened. I pressed the button on the back of the screen but was unable to move the pointer down to enter my password as the (Apple) wireless mouse seemed to be disconnected too. I had to fix this by plugging in an old USB mouse and keyboard and restarting it. It happened again tonight after being asleep for less than an hour. I run a small business and had a customer in at the time, which was a bit frustrating having to plug things in and restart it while they patiently waited.

It's a Retina 5K, 2017 Ventura 13.2

I'm not very technical minded, so I'm hoping there's an easy fix for this that I'd be able to understand? Could it be something as simple as changing the batteries in the kybd and mouse? 😬. Thanks in advance for any help.

Depends on which version of the Apple keyboard and mouse you have. Later versions have internal batteries which charge via Lightning cable, the same USB charging cables shipped w/ iPhones.

Easy fix (temporary)
1. Use a USB cable and plug in your keyboard all the time.
2. Change the setting of your iMac to never sleep.

Power it off when you close the store.

Thanks, both mouse and keyboard are pretty ancient and have the old fashioned batteries in them.

Thanks, yes I could although I really like the Magic Mouse (when it works...)
