Can anyone tell me if Apple give the 3G Stereo Bluetooth on the 3G? From what I have seen it looks like they have not.

It has nothing to do with hardware.
The current iPhone could have stereo Bluetooth with a software update, I believe.

Right, but I believe even the current iPhone has the hardware to make it possible. The Bluetooth on the iPhone is crippled by the firmware, not the hardware.

There is a reason the first gen. didnt have it, and no one knows what it is. Battery life is the only excuse I've heard, but with the new battery, that argument goes right out the window.

I've kept my iPhone nice and unjailbroken, but if someone can figure out how to turn on this feature, I'm going for it. Might anyway, rather than wait an unspecified time limit until 2.0 is released.

it seems like a pointless feature anyway because most stero bluetooth headsets I have used suck anyway because blue tooth is really just not a great wireless standard.
