Bluetooth pairing - Iphone 4

I have an Iphone 4 and recently had to replace my Bluetooth headset. The headset that I bought is a Plantronics M28 which is Bluetooth 3.0 + A2DP. The Iphone 4 is 2.1 + EDR. At this point I am no sure if they will be compatible. I did some research and the information was conflicting therefore I thought I would post something here. I haven't opened it yet because I want to be able to return it if it will not work together.
