Just came back to the iphone camp after a few years on the Android side.

My truck headunit has an integrated bluetooth handsfree mode (Ford Sync gen 1).

Its good for handling calls but I supplement it with a tablet running Android Auto for the nice Car UI for maps and music.

On android on my phone I could turn off the media profile so my phone would still pair for phone calls to the headunit and my tablet would connect to the headunit with the media profile and send the media stream. If I got a call to my phone, it would handle it through the headunit, and then return media to the tablet once the call was over.

Is there any way to do this same thing with the iphone? I can manually switch the system audio out to be on the phone, but it doesn't give up its connection on the head unit as media device so the tablet can never connect via bluetooth to the headunit.

The only options I see under the bluetooth settings is phonebook download and contacts. I don't even see anything about MAP (or settings about messages) profile support. Does the iphone support the MAP profile. Is it always on if so like media and handsfree seems to be?
