Bluetooth remote problem

In my bedroom I have both a Mac mini and an Apple TV. With the Apple TV i use the standard Apple TV remote that came with it, but now the remote is controlling both the TV and the Mac. They're both equal distance from the remote, but it's getting annoying having to put my Mac to sleep if I want to use my Apple TV. If I press any button on the remote, it does what it's supposed to on the Apple TV, but wakes my Mac, and if I wake my Mac it starts playing music. Is there any way to fix there or should I just learn to live with it?
 
After talking with Apple, they helped me solve this problem. Here's where the option is for anybody that is interested/needs it:

System Preferences >> Security & Privacy >> Press the padlock in the bottom left corner >> Advanced >> Disable remote control infrared receiver
