Bluetooth required to be on?

So Im new to AW. Does the bluetooth need to be turned on my iPhone for the AW to work? I rarely have bluetooth enabled on my phone, so I was curious.

So it won't harm my phone to keep bluetooth toggled on? I usually just turn it on to listen to apple music and then toggle it off.

I had once heard keeping bluetooth on all the time harms the phone.

But if the watch needs bluetooth on, then I will turn it on and keep it on

Nope. BT has almost no material impact on the phone. Years ago, some folks wrote it was a good idea to turn off BT to conserve battery. I do not think anyone actually objectively measured the battery savings back then.

I have never turn my Bluetooth off on my 6s since I pre-ordered it and it's still running fine.
