Bluetooth Speaker Problem on yosemite 10.10.3

I updated to 10.10.3 last week and noticed that now the volume controls on my Creative bluetooth speaker change the system volume. Previously I was able to modify the volume on the headset independently from the system volume. Was this an intentional change? Is there a way to separate the two volumes so I can still bump up quiet things by stacking the volume controls?

Anyone experience this problem?
