Bluetooth synching

Having a problem synching my iphone with my new handfree car kit - doesn't find the unit. Thoughts?

the first question is check the car manual to see whether it accepts the iPhone

thanks, it doesn't specify but it was bought from a reputable store recently. I tried to synch the phone in the car port, so potentially the wifi in the house may trump the signal from the bluetooth car set?

What make is the car kit? I have a Parrot, and you have to specifically tell the car kit to look for unpaired phones or it won't show up. For the Parrot bluetooth units, it's in Settings > Advanced > Pair > Other Phones, then try and sync.
