I'm no expert m, but with Bluetooth 4.0LE AND iBeacon, could a secure method for transactions be made via Bluetooth?
If a transaction method that competes with Visa/MasterCard/Amex/Dinner's Card/ et al, were to be implemented. Considering the fact that AAPL has more registered credit cards than any other company (FAR more than AMZN for example). Now keep in mind AAPL had held a massive reserve of currency that it has been growing due to the genius CFO (who happens to be the most highly paid CFO in the United States) for reasons unrelated to tech if you look at their financial fundamentals. Theoretically AAPL can back a credit service, one where people can pay by just scanning an object with some sort of responsive tag.
Why hasn't AAPL leveraged its tech in order to enter a field that more like PYPL but in the "brick & mortar" world? Go to the market and pay goods without scanning or a cashier. Maybe enter a bar, buy drinks, no need to leave a tab, auto register like the iPhone and Yosemite. Click a button to see your what you've drank, then click another button to confirm and tip. Let the bar tender make cocktails, not collect cards.
I have always though AAPL would go this direction. Credit card companies still get their fee and AAPL adds a premium for its use, but it would still be a good deal for that market I talked about, they'd have have fewer cashiers, you know, lanes for people with GOOG and MSFT phones. What about the bar? We'll the bartender can serve more drinks and faster mot dealing with tabs and credit card it change Oh yeah, iPhone cars that instantly pay and keep a receipt. AAPL has so many option in this arena with their very unique resources.
Steve Jobs said AAPL is no linger just a computer company. Perhaps they can now get into commerce. Making money off all products and not just the App Store excluding hardware.
It's the Apple Instant World and I think that might just be the beginning. You can already buy products in an Apple Store with just your iPhone, but I want it to be even easier. Take what you came for and walk out the store having it automatically payed without you intervention often.
IBM had a commercial like that over 10 years ago and now these to behemoths can have the security, ingenuity, and creativity to make this a reality. GOOG and its NFC so half hearted and too fragmented GOOG can't do anything right without buying out a startup and its search ads.
I guess Orkut did become popular in Brazil and infamous for being a child pornography trading social network.
