Recently I finally updated from my 2011 MBP to 2024 M4 Pro MPB. The change is quite substantial and mostly good, but the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar is clearly a step backward.
Previously (I was on macOS Sierra, mind you), when a device was connected to Bluetooth, there would be 3 dots displayed across the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar. When no device was connected, there would be just the plain Bluetooth icon.
In modern macOS this is no longer the case. The Bluetooth icon always remains just the plain icon, so there's no indication whatsoever whether a device is connected to it or not, unless you click on the icon. I find that rather inconvenient and don't understand why they'd remove this useful functionality.
Is there an option (terminal command, app..?) to bring it back?
