New AW5 noticed that after checking HR that graph of HR’s and the small heart icon you press to get updated HR are blurred rest of screen is OK. Becomes sharp again once you touch screen. What’s up ? Is this normal or not

I bet that’s because of the always on display reducing its refresh to once a second.

If you leave the AOD looking at any non clock or non session screen (workout like app) it will blur the screen and then display the time as an overlay on it. This is what the display management feature does to conserve power with screens not designed for low power display.

So does that mean it’s a ‘feature’ ie meant to be - irritating to watch though

Again, it’s the compromise between having an always on display with the same battery life as the AW4. If you kept an AOD with the full refresh rate the battery might only last 70% as long as the AW4.

Thanks that’s good to know as I was worried there was something wrong with LCD screen on watch

You can sort of turn it off by setting preferences that the watch immediately goes to a clock mode rather than back to the app if within a few seconds IIRC.. I had it set like that but if you have an app you want to go back to rather than the switch back to the clock it's not the perfect solution.

Personally I don't like the blur with the time on top, I think it's ugly but it's probably the best representation to show that it's still in an app and giving you meaningful time data.
