I have MacBook 2017 version (base model) and have an external display (Samsung CF791). It supports the full resolution but I tried to calibrate it, still texts are blurry and good enough for the display capabilities. I'm using HDMI to HDMI connection with Apple's own USB-C - HDMI adapter.

Is there any solutions that anyone can suggest to fix this issue? (LCD font smoothing is on at the System Pref)

Thanks

So this is a terribly late reply, but I also have the CF791. Firstly, get rid of that adapter, as I don't believe it supports 100hz, and buy yourself one of the numerous adapters available on Amazon that support your monitor's full refresh rate.

Second, by default, my CF791 came with sharpness turned all the way down to 0. While this can be effective for home theater viewers who don't want to add the white "halo" effect -- the thin white outline that appear around images on the screen when sharpness is too high -- I would suggest turning Sharpness up to 36 or so to get nice, sharp text.
