i have my laptop on a laptop stand, and every once in awhile i find that the lid is open. The latch isnt fully holding the top shut i guess, what should i do? is this an apple care issue? if so,what would they do for me?

thanks.

AppleCare should fix it...its a common problem with the PB and MBP. Do you have AppleCare?

Do you happen to have a palm/wrist pad protector?

no i dont think so. i just have the laptop on a stand closed, and every once in awhile it pops open. i do have apple care,so what is my best bet, calling them, or taking it into the store and having the genius bar people fix it.

thanks again.

I would first try calling them...it couldnt hurt.

My new MBP has the same problem. It's on my desk and the lid occasionally opens on its own. I bought it from Amazon and I could have it replaced. However, I think this one is perfect and I am afraid of getting one that has many problems.

Can this problem be solved easily by genius bar?

Thanks

i'd advise calling applecare first and see what they say. It will save you a trip down to the genius bar if the genius bar doesnt end up fixing it, which happens.

Regardless where your Apple store is, go online and make an appointment to the genius bar. If you sign in with your Apple Care, you can bump ahead of the line.

But don't go late in the afternoon anywhere near rush hour up to closing.
The store here in St Paul is packed solid during this period.
